One down....

Yesterday marked one year. One year of being Mr. and Mrs. Safford and Bhogal. Haha. What are you supposed to say if the wife didn’t take the husband’s last name? One year ago, yesterday – we got dressed up in our finest and most expensive clothes and headed to San Jose Gurdwara to finally make it all official. And a year later, we’re still here. Still standing.

To celebrate, our anniversary weekend started with dinner and drinks on Friday night with our friends in Downtown San Jose. Dinner at Sonoma Chicken Coop was tasty. That place really has good food at a very reasonable price. It’s also perfect for large groups because everyone orders and pays on their own, but you get the feel of a nicer restaurant. We then walked over to Dive Bar (déjà vu). It was almost a complete recreation of last year, plus or minus some faces. Apparently though, some of our friends got screwed on their bills and were charged more than they should have been, which sucks but doesn’t take away from the awesomeness of the night – at least for us. We will most likely relocate our venue in protest next year. Anyway, after the bar we headed home with some friends to continue with some post-partying-partying and Jack in the Box.

Saturday was a lazy day. Very lazy in fact. Woke up late. Ate breakfast at IHOP around 3pm. And that was pretty much it. Went to the mall. And then proceeded to sit around at home and never even ate dinner. Hahah.

Sunday was our private celebration day. We went to Calistoga; also got a late start on that day. Made it there around 3pm and only had 2 hours before the wineries shut down so we moved quickly. In retrospect, maybe a little too quickly. Haha. Went to three wineries and finished off the day at a hole in the wall Southern BBQ place that was so good. It was a wonderful day. Traffic and getting to and from Calistoga sucked ass, but we had a nice time.

Yesterday ended our chill weekend in a very chill fashion. We lounged around. Made and ate breakfast at home. Ran errands. Saw the parents. Picked up the kids from school which was a surprise for them that they absolutely loved. And then hung with the kids for the rest of the afternoon until their parents came over and made us all dinner.

Overall, what a great first anniversary. We’re both looking forward to many, many more.

P.S. Go Rays!!

Down, but not out.

What a night! With their backs to the wall and after losing 11 straight post season games to the Red Sox, the Angels scratched and clawed their way to a 5-4 victory last night in Game 3 of the ALDS. The win forces a game 4 in Boston tonight and keeps them from being swept out of the 1st round of the playoffs yet again. Major props to catcher Mike Napoli. The dude is a beast. He hit 2 home runs last night and scored the winning run of the game from 2nd base off Erick Aybar's hit in the 12th inning. In the post-game interview I was shocked to see him talking in full sentances. When I got his autograph at the last set of Angel games up here all he could muster was a grunt of affirmation when I asked him if he was catching that night, and another grunt when I wished him luck in the game and in the post seasion. At least he was nice enough to sign my hat unlike a certain player that shall remain nameless.

Hopefully the Halos can keep the season alive with a win tonight and bring the series back to Anaheim. Check out Tori Hunter's blog if you have a chance. That dude is such a gamer, I love the way he plays and just exudes so much personality. Go Angels!

ALDS tonight! Angels vs. Red Sox

Baseball playoffs are finally frickin here! This is seriously like my Christmas. My Angels had an incredible year and won a franchise record 100 games, which is the best record in baseball and secures them home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The team is healthy overall (unlike last year come playoff time), deep as hell, and finally got a big bat to go with Vladdy (Teixeira). The Red Sux have knocked us out 3 times now (86, 04, and 07) so this will be a great chance to exact some revenge on the chowda-heads. This is the best team the Angels have had since 2002 and I think they have a great chance to go all the way this year. I'm thinking Angels and Cubs in the WS. How cool would it be to keep the Cubs from wining a championship for the 100th straight year?
